W7AC Youth Spotlighted in the Anacostia Watershed Earth Day Competition

For the second year in a row youth from ward 7 have been awarded a place in the Anacostia Watersheds Annual Art & Poetry Competition. Eighteen year old Maurice Hill, a Ward 7 Arts Collaborative Intern, was awarded second place for his poem Cans & Boots as well as for his poster titled How Would You Feel. Terrence Richburg, a sixth grader at Smothers Elementary was awarded 1st place for his untitled piece. By receiving this honor these young men have helped to put aside the negative stigma that is often attached to black male youth in Ward 7.
